I was looking up a few friends on Facebook this week to check on them after all that has been happening in the last few weeks from the hurricanes passing through in the Caribbeans and Florida. Thank goodness my friends are all safe but still recovering from the damages.
2017 Hurricane Season – 14 Hurricanes so far
Can you believe there has been 14 hurricanes/storms so far this 2017 season. With back to back hurricanes recently, my heart breaks looking at the news and pictures posted from the damage of the aftermath.
Donate to the Hurricane Relief efforts
In times of crisis, it’s great to see that people come together to help where they can. In recent news, the cruse industry has been coming together to utilize their cruise ships to pickup people from the impacted islands or delivering water, food, clothing and other critically needed items to several hard-hit islands on the Caribbean.
If you want to donate financially to help with the relief efforts, here are a few places to start with:
Reminiscing St Maarten – Maho Beach
One of my favorite places to visit in the Caribbeans is St Maarten/St Martin and it saddens me to see the news about their famous Princess Juliana airport under so much damage. Maho Beach was one of the most sought out tourist hot spots to see the airplanes landing. It was such an awesome experience to be so close to the airplanes landing but after Hurricane Irma, the airport and beach is badly damage.
Here are photos taken in 2013 at Maho Beach as the airplanes landing at Princess Juliana Airport.
Maho beach will be missed. I hope St Maarten can be restored to it’s former state with all it’s beauty and culture. Please keep the people who have been impacted by these hurricanes in prayer as they recover and get their lives back to normal.
